About Jas
Large format, slowly made
I'm Jas Ines, a landscape photographer working on 4x5 sheet film from a studio in Edinburgh. I've been photographing the same handful of places for eleven years.
I shoot fewer than three hundred frames a year. A large-format camera makes you slow down: set up, meter, wait, and often walk away with nothing.
Every print is developed by hand, drum-scanned at 4000dpi and printed in-studio on cotton rag. Nothing is outsourced and nothing is composited.
What we stand for

Sheet film costs enough to make you certain before you release the shutter.
No composites
What's in the frame was in front of the camera. Dodging and burning only.
Printed to outlive me
Pigment inks on 310gsm cotton rag, rated beyond a hundred years.
